Therese Tarlinton
Social Commerce Evangelist
Marketing expert, speaker and branding ambassador, Therese Tarlinton is a social commerce evangelist. Degree qualified in marketing, with over two decades of experience, Therese knows what’s needed to create a brand in Australia, and appealing to your target customers.
Working with tech giants Philips and Minolta, leading ANZ marketing with 7-figure budgets, Therese jumped off the corporate ladder in 2002 creating her own multi million dollar global company in her twenties. As the licensee for heavyweights Jeep, Sesame Street and United Colors of Benetton she manufactured baby products and sold to Australia’s biggest retailers before setting up distributors in seven countries.
After successfully selling her first company, Therese decided that ecommerce was the new direction and took at role at the half billion dollar ASX listed company, Grays Commerce Group where she was in charge of partnerships and social revenue. She created a new distribution channel for the company where customers could transact inside the company Facebook business page using auction technology to engage and excite. They sold over 250,000 bottles of wine and created millions of dollars in incremental revenue for their shareholders.
Moving into a General Manager role in their jewellery division – selling over $7 million worth of precious diamonds and gems nationally, including the company’s largest online transaction of $87,000, she saw the potential of social commerce as the next wave to ride.
Taking the leap again, she created Therese Tarlinton Social Commerce and after doing a deal with Australian’s only listed real estate company, McGrath Estate Agents, she made them the pioneer in social property listings. Now every McGrath listed property lives natively inside Facebook, and advertises to people most likely to buy that particular home. McGrath now has over 8 million brand impressions, a unified social presence and is selling property without the need for the expensive portals.
Therese is a passionate supporter of young entrepreneurs and an ambassador for the social change organisation Inspiring Rare Birds. She lives in Sydney with her car mad husband, rowing enthusiast older son, and is helping her 11 year old son create his first business right now.
