San Ysidro Ranch
San Ysidro Ranch is a storied resort tucked in the hillsides of Santa Barbara’s fabulous enclave of Montecito.
First opening in 1893, the property quickly became known as Hollywood’s Hideaway, welcoming movie stars, acclaimed authors and screenwriters, and heads of state for retreats and celebrations alike.
A handful of the 38 cottages on the 550-acre property bear the name of their famous residents (Kennedy, Churchill, Warner), while the others’ names are inspired by the lush gardens surrounding them. Each cottage features a private, gated entry with personalized welcome, California king four-poster beds draped with luxurious Italian canopies, antique furnishings collected from around the world, mason-crafted fireplaces, indoor/outdoor showers, and oversized sunken spas on private patios.
San Ysidro Ranch is also home to multiple award-winning restaurants, and the highest awarded wine cellar in the Central Coast of California. Executive Chef Matt Johnson highlights New American cuisine featuring herbs and vegetables grown in the on-site organic chef’s garden, along with local ingredients and delicacies flown in from around the world in the Michelin Plate-honored Stonehouse Restaurant, as well as the local’s favorite Plow & Angel Bistro and historic private dining venues. Oenophiles can explore the subterranean cellar, winding through galleries of wine to the secret Tasting Room for private reservation where Chef Matt and Advanced Sommelier Tristan Pitre curate a dazzling experience with tasting menu and wine pairings for each reservation.
Other property amenities include 17 miles of hiking trails and yoga classes with ocean views for the active guests, heated pool and Plunge Pool Bar overlooking mini golf and lawn games, and the Salon & Spa for ultimate relaxation and treatments inspired by the gardens and surrounding nature.
