QLOCKTWO
It all started with a simple and yet ingenious idea: a time display that represents time as humankind has created it.
The two artists Marco Biegert and Andreas Funk worked on this idea in their studio for many years. In time they created three extraordinary objects that would fundamentally change the way time is displayed and gave rise to the name by which they are known today: QLOCKTWO.
The QLOCKTWO UNIVERSE began with the QLOCKTWO EARTH, an art object that was designed to represent the 24 hours of a day using language on a word matrix. Its conception was the starting point for an extraordinary journey that now reaches its next climax with the QLOCKTWO MOON. This second work of art from Biegert & Funk is dedicated to the month, or more precisely to the phases of the moon, which people have been using for orientation within a series of days. In one lunar cycle, from full moon to full moon, the time display of the MOON rotates 28 times, showing exactly how the moon appears in the starry sky. But without the year, what would our sense of time be? This question will one day be answered by the final piece of Biegert & Funk’s total work of art: the SUN.
