PowerAnchor
The PowerAnchor is an educational product used in STEM. For school years 5-11.
STEM stands for science, technology, engineering and maths. STEM brings these subject areas together in the one learning experience where students apply themselves to a project. This is called project-based learning. Best practice STEM is where students are given a challenge, introduced to new technology, are required to make a solution, test their solution and apply mathematical principles to modify and optimise their solution. There has been a need for STEM projects without defined outcomes, where students may actually fail, that are also completely ready to go in the classroom. Student engagement is incredibly high when they are making things that go, like cars and planes.
Designed for use in the classroom with particular attention to portability, minimal set up time, effective storage, simplicity of use. Designed for visual impact to increase student engagement. It is backed up with four fully resourced projects that can be run on the PowerAnchor. Teachers love the fact that all the materials for the projects are available from us. We have designed the projects and selected the materials so that they are easy to make, have a good chance of success (but not guaranteed), provide plenty of student variation and fit with school budgets. The success of the PowerAnchor is not just in the unit itself, but also in the design of the four classroom projects that are run on it. PowerAnchor projects use the car and plane connector system which ensures the making process is fast so that students are unafraid to experiment with variations of their design. The PowerAnchor is used in over 600 Australian schools. Australian designed, Australian made. Students love making things that go, plus having the chance to make their own modifications and putting them to the test.
