Ashgrove Project
The project delivered on producing a relaxed classic style renovation that involved raising the existing home and reconfiguring the internal layouts so the ground floor level was all about connection to the lower patio area and views to the backyard.
The back yard we had to level out to create large terrace areas and incorporate a large family pool that connected to the house. The Kitchen and all of the family rooms were on the lower level with large windows and doors that gave the house light and connect ability to the outdoors creating a sense of large space and airflow into the house.
The upper-level spaces were redesigned so they became the family bedrooms along with a new a master bedroom for the parents. This became the sanctum of the house where we re-used the existing character details but where the kids come and relax in there now large inviting rooms and private bathroom.
The parents wing was a new extension keeping in theme with the character of the house but pushing outwards to the rear of the house to give them separation from the kids, but views overlooking the rear and pool area.
This house retained its classic traditional appeal which was very important from a council approval but is now suitable for modern living - functional, warm, light and inviting.
