This home’s design responds directly to its site, context, and the daily rhythms of its inhabitants.

In contrast to nearby site-dominant homes, it reimagines the regional sub-tropical courtyard archetype to create a more balanced relationship with its surroundings.

Designed for a young family of five who value both indoor and outdoor living, the home is composed of a series of layered spaces defined by distinct programmatic volumes and curated gardens. The ground floor is arranged into three pavilions—formal, informal, and service—which frame a central courtyard flowing into the pool deck.

More than an aesthetic gesture, the courtyard drives natural cross-ventilation, drawing breezes from the pool terrace through the interior and up through the home’s center in a chimney effect.

Above, two exposed concrete bedroom volumes enclose the courtyard and are connected by a suspended bridge. One contains the children’s rooms; the other, the Principal Suite. To better respond to the view, the principal bedroom volume rotates over the courtyard and towards the view, creating a comfortable courtyard space below. The result is a more dynamic and geometric façade on the waterfront.

Strategically placed windows and glass fins frame views across the garden and reflect sky, planting, and architecture—creating dynamic interplay between light and form. At night, these elements glow softly, transforming the courtyard into a lantern-like centerpiece.

A palette of concrete, stone, and thermally treated wood defines the architecture, continuing seamlessly inside. Deep, layered interior spaces invite movement between indoors and out, reconnecting the family with the landscape while meeting the practical needs of modern life.
