BNA Nashville – Grand Lobby
Garden on the Wall® (GOTW) is proud to announce that the firm’s most impactful garden installation has been unveiled at Nashville International Airport (BNA) in Nashville, Tennessee, as part of the Grand Opening of their new 200,000 square-foot Grand Lobby.
Soaring above the check-in lobby and departures area, the impressive gardens span 105-feet in length on each side of the security screening lanes, making them the largest preserved garden installations in the world.
Often found exclusively in workplace, healthcare, or high-end hospitality spaces, GOTW's gardens historically have had a limited viewing audience. Now that has changed, with the BNA gardens being seen by the public, with over 70,000 passengers each day, and 20 million each year!
The intricate design of the gardens’ preserved flora tells a story unique to Nashville and its airport, showcasing local landmark bridges, while also weaving in sound motifs of the music of Nashville and abstract representations of rivers and the rolling hills and valleys surrounding the city. Taken as a whole, the gardens – through a deeply layered and textured creation - give a sense of connections, flow, and rhythm much like the Transportation Hubs which host a constant flow of people. With biodiverse species in varying hues, layers, and textures, these expansive gardens comprise a wholly sustainable, all-natural installation from project take off to landing, requiring no maintenance along the way, nor any carbon offset either!
